WACS 2012

Yum, Hong-Chul
Mayor of Daejeon Metropolitan City

As Mayor of Daejeon, I am delighted to welcome the 35th WACS World Congress to Daejeon, the most dynamic and fastest growing city in Korea.

This prestigious biennial global event for chefs and culinary professionals from all around the world will be under the theme of "How to feed the Planet in the Future," that reflects growing role and responsibilities of chefs' societies in the world.

Over five days, many renowned speakers and culinary professionals will focus on ways to enhance the roles of chefs in shaping a better and more livable world.

Along with the Congress are a number of culinary competitions of chefs representing their respective countries which will showcase world class cuisines, and various cultural events and music performances which will make the Congress a grand festival for both culinary professionals and general public.

The host city Daejeon is the most dynamic and fastest growing Korean city. It is home to Daedeok Innopolis, Korea's best and largest research town in which over 70 government and private research institutes as well as many world class research oriented universities and venture companies dwell. I believe your stay in Daejeon will be pleasant and memorable.
